MCAV attend law firm Squire Patton Boggs event in Birmingham

On Wednesday 23 May, The Midlands Connected Autonomous Vehicles (“MCAV”) team attended Squire Patton Boggs office for the Counsel Connect seminar in Birmingham. The event featured talks on the importance of storytelling in a corporate environment, updates on the recruitment market for law firms, GDPR preparations and how companies should adapt to the implementation of Brexit and the emerging Driverless vehicle sector.

Monique Seth, Partner of Conigital, engaged the audience with a session on Conigital’s ongoing work in the Connected Autonomous Vehicle (CAV) sector to deploy autonomous Pods by 2019 within the West Midlands. Monique outlined and set the vision of what the path to autonomy looks like, setting out the impact this would have on societies including businesses and citizens.

He promoted how MCAV intended to leverage its growing membership and ecosystem as a  platform for business and transport professionals to share and connect in the ever changing driverless industry.

Monique Seth commented, “MCAV presented current CAV technology status including the impact of CAVs on roadside infrastructure and urban design and planning, at an industry event arranged by eco-system partners Squire Patton Boggs. The audience appreciated the potential opportunities to their own organisations that the new emerging CAV market could bring.”

Simon Garbett, Partner of Squire Patton Boggs stated, “MCAV is a very interesting cluster that is bringing a great range of interested parties together to talk about common issues and opportunities.”

MCAV doesn’t just appeal to the business and transport community, it is a chance for a broad range of industries to become involved. This event was pivotal to bringing law firms into the CAV eco-system, allowing an opportunity for their expertise in legislation, insurance, regulation, governance and contractual advice to be commercialised.
